At QuiroAds, we are proud to have supported Arantxa Ortega and shared her challenge, ‘I don't have hands, but I have feet.’ Arantxa has a PhD in molecular biology and in 2014 began researching chiropractic, helping to advance and raise awareness of the profession.
When we heard about her initiative, we knew we wanted to collaborate with something that is so close to our hearts. After many years working alongside exceptional chiropractic professionals, we feel it is our duty to give them the recognition they deserve by using sport as a means of communication.
With the slogan ‘I don't have hands, but I have feet,’ Arantxa travelled around Spain to spread the word about chiropractic science. She ran 1 km for each chiropractor who is a member of the Spanish Chiropractic Association. A total of 300 km spread over 7 marathons throughout the country.
This project culminated a year later with her epic challenge ‘Running with Your Hands’, where on 6 October 2023 Arantxa Ortega completed the 104 km Gran Trail of Peñalara, running for 24 hours in support of chiropractic and promoting the recognition of chiropractic as a healthcare profession through the Fujitega Foundation.
Documentary ‘Running with Your Hands’, where on 6 October 2023 Arantxa Ortega completed the 104 km Gran Trail of Peñalara, running in support of chiropractic and promoting the recognition of chiropractic as a healthcare profession through the Fujitega Foundation. Thank you to everyone who was part of the challenge in some way. Special thanks to the five chiropractors who helped Arantxa during some of the toughest moments of the race.
We couldn't be happier to launch this initiative in our city, on the occasion of the Valencia Marathon. Congratulations to Arantxa for the interesting and informative talk she gave on Friday. And many thanks to Quiropráctica Delassus for welcoming us to their fantastic center! It was a weekend to join forces in this challenge to give chiropractic the visibility it deserves. The first marathon was done! Six more to go!
On 4 February, we continued with the project in collaboration with Mar Menor Chiropractic for the Murcia Marathon.
It was great to hear Arantxa talk again about the advances and current state of chiropractic in Spain from a scientific perspective. Running 42 km through the streets of Murcia was no easy task, but there are few things that Arantxa can't do.
We had already completed two steps of this challenge.
On 20 February, we continued with Arantxa's challenge, led by Ángel at Sur Chiropractic, as part of the Seville Marathon. It was great to hear Arantxa talk about chiropractic in Spain again, at the centre of one of her former students. We are now three steps into this challenge, and it feels like we started yesterday! Stay tuned for the next steps!
On 6 March, we continued with Arantxa's project ‘I don't have hands, but I have feet’ in collaboration with the Castro Chiropractic Centre on the occasion of the Bilbao Marathon. It was great to hear Arantxa talk again about the progress and current state of chiropractic in Spain, and although the weather was not on our side, the people who offered to listen and share their time over the weekend made up for everything else. We are now four steps into this challenge, having covered 168 km spreading the word, and it feels like we started yesterday! Stay tuned for the next steps!
On 24 April, we took on Arantxa's challenge with the help of the Movemento Health and Wellness Centre for the Madrid Marathon. This time, Arantxa was playing on home turf! A great talk supported by Savia Quiropráctica and a marathon that leaves no one indifferent.
On 8 May, we continued the project alongside Quirolife Badalona for the Barcelona Marathon. It was the penultimate stop on this incredible journey, and we can't wait to complete the challenge.
On 26 November, we concluded the project alongside Elena Guisasola's centre in Eibar for the San Sebastián Marathon. Despite the characteristic cold weather of the north, Arantxa managed to complete the 42 km through the streets of San Sebastián. It was exactly one year ago when we began this challenge in Valencia. At that time, we could not have imagined the impact and experiences that this challenge would bring us. Many thanks to everyone who contributed their grain of sand to raise awareness of Arantxa's work.
